Summit 4.0: Changing Journalism Press Meeting will be held on May 3-4 2019 at GAU Millenium Senate Hall by Girne American University (GAU) Faculty of Communication on occasion of May 3rd World Press Freedom Day.

Dean of the Faculty of Communication, GAU Dr. Pınar Eraslan Yayınoğlu in her statement said that, in the summit, within the theme of “Changing Journalism; subjects like continuing technological transformation of the profession, reliable information problem, opinions advocating to strengthen newspapers against technology companies offering news packages, actors of the content production world, their orientation and similar issues will be discussed.

On the first day of the summit the opening speech and World Press Freedom; GAU Faculty of Communication academician Prof. Dr. Korkmaz Alemdar On predicting the future, Metehan Demir from Superhaber about the Value of News and Keeping Information Based Journalism, About Journalism in Post-truth Melis Tufur from MBI, Şükrü Oktay Kılıç from Teyit.org on intervening false news in pursuit of trustworthy information, Ömer Güran from İcat Medya on the reflections of the online media on the printed press, Polat Alper from Kıbrıs Postası to enlighen people on the process time from the internet news to the written press and About the evaluation of the day and the future tips about Müslüm Guler from NETUCE and the Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Pınar Eraslan Yayınoğlu will take part .

On the second day of the summit speeches will be made about; Search Engines, about News Services and Transformation of Jounralism by Dinçer Karaca from Show Tv, about Career in Media from Suna Akyıldız from Posta Newspaper, Information on what has changed in Television Journalism by News Anchor and caster Ece Pirim, New Viewer Expectations by actor Umut Oğuz and Volkan Güngör from Acun Medya will make speeches about Technology Journalism and Expectations for the Future of Journalists.

Prof. Dr. Pınar Eraslan Yayınoğlu has said; ‘‘Media experts coming from Turkey working in this sector will be present and will be making speeches in the activity which has the focus technological advancements of Internet and Industry 4.0 which will transform Journalism profession. The first day of the speeches with focus on the value of the profession, conditions to ensure the survival and developments in the near future, the diversity of the media, the second day will be on creating an interactive environment.’’

Emphasising that the second day of activity will have a one on one interview with members of the press and listeners from different areas of specialization to have an ideas exchange and thus a press meeting, Dr. Pınar Eraslan Yayınoğlu said “The event will be open to listeners from all walks of interest to the university students, media sector, academicians in the TRNC, the media interested or who crossed paths with the media."
