About Program
In the education program to be implemented by Girne American University Faculty of Medicine, it is aimed to raise students with superior academic qualities. Our purpose is to train physicians who are indexed to the universal developments in medical science, who have the knowledge and skills to fully respond to the health problems of the society, and who are competent and qualified to contribute to scientific developments.
Required conditions to graduate from the program (number of courses and/or credits, internship, etc.):
- Students who successfully complete six years of education are entitled to graduate with a total of 360 ECTS Credits.
- The training program profile is an integrated system and consists of Basic Medical Sciences, Internal Medicine Sciences and Surgical Medical Sciences. First 4 semesters "Basic Medical Sciences". The 5th and 6th semesters are defined as "Introduction to Clinical Sciences" and the courses are offered every semester. The 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th semesters are defined as "Clinical Sciences" and the courses are rotational. 11th and 12th semesters are "Family Medicine (Internship)" period and the courses are rotational. The 6th grade internship will be carried out at Mersin University based on the cooperation protocol signed between the Girne American University and Mersin University. In our academic calendar, semesters will last 14 weeks, Clinical Sciences 84 weeks, Family Medicine 52 weeks.

Family Medicine (Interns): Community Medicine, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Surgery and Emergency, Pediatrics and Diseases, Elective internship.
Career Opportunities
Students who graduate from the program will receive the title of "Medical Doctor".
Graduates of this program can be employed with the title of Medical Doctor in their own countries and in countries that accept the accreditations obtained by our medical school. They may also proceed their studies in the PhD program and become academicians.
International Academic Collaborations
As per Collaboration Agreement between Girne American University (GAU) and University of Health Sciences Antigua (UHSA), students who complete the first two years of medical study in GAU shall automatically be eligible for acceptance/admission to further four years of study in UHSA provided that they have attained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.50 and have completed a minimum of 90 undergraduate Credit Hours in GAU. Students who wish and satisfy abovementioned requirements can proceed their education in Caribbean.
